THAT STORM KNOWN as the "beast from the east" has made its presence known here on the Costa del Sol. The sun (sol) can still be seen at times, but it's been mostly gray, windy, and rainy for more than two days, and there's much more to come. I had already been having my share of gray days in my head and San Geraldo finds the dreary weather (and those cyclonic winds) a bit hard to take. To cheer ME up the other day, he baked banana bread. But, it went quickly. So, yes, we have no banana bread.

THAT'S SOME BANANA [BREAD] BETWEEN MY LEGS. ESTE ES UN [PAN DE] PLÁTANO ENTRE MIS PIERNAS. |
AND SEE WHAT'S BETWEEN MOOSE'S LEGS. (YES, HE HAS NO BANANA.) Y MIRA LO QUE HAY ENTRE LAS PIERNAS DE MOOSE. (SÍ, EL NO TIENE NINGUN PLÁTANO.) |
And because I couldn't find the song "Yes, We Have No Bananas" (from 1923) in both English and Spanish, I decided to share this version by the Swedish Chef, which is in no language, whatsoever.
Y como no pude encontrar la canción "Sí, No Tenemos Plátanos" (de 1923) en inglés y español, decidí compartir esta versión con el chef sueco (Swedish Chef do los Muppets) que no está en ningún idioma).
We too are getting lots of rain....with more to come and heavy winds. But I enjoy a nice rain now and then. That bread looks scrumptious.
ReplyDeletemistress maddie:
DeleteThe bread is amazing. Jerry can bake! I saw your snow, too. Hope you're cozy and warm!
I'm pretty sure it's authentic Swedish, not gibberish. Why would a silly Muppet show exaggerate?
ReplyDeleteAdam:
DeleteI'm sure you're right. I mean, it's not fake news! Bork bork bork.
Lucky you just got the rain and wind....and no snow! I wonder if Madrid got the snow as they are at a higher elevation?
ReplyDeleteCheapchick:
DeleteMadrid rarely gets snow but did got quite a bit about a month ago. I don't think they've got any right now. I can see snow in the mountains here, but none very close... .yet!
The perfect musical choice!
ReplyDeleteDebra:
DeleteThe Swedish Chef is brilliant! Bork bork bork.
Of course Moose has no banana. He's a pussy gato! Seriously, that banana bread made me gain ten pounds just looking at it. Foul weather can be nice if you don't have to go out in it and the power stays on. Keep safe.
ReplyDeleteDeedles:
DeleteI used to smother the banana bread in either butter or cream cheese. I don't anymore. Therefore only 2 pounds just looking at it. We debated going out for dinner last night. We walked out on the terrace and decided to eat in!
Rain turned to snow here. Left work last night in a blizzard. Could your storm have reached all the way to Ohio?
ReplyDeleteKirk:
DeleteTwo different polar storm systems. Unreal!
I like putting cream cheese on banananananana bread. does SG put nuts in his bread?
ReplyDeleteI also like a banana (and nuts) between...well...you know (wink wink)
moose & dudo look silly.
we are windy/rainy/snowy/cold here also.
have a good weekend!
anne marie:
DeleteOh, that's how we used to eat it. SO good. Jerry hates walnuts and pecans and many other nuts, so his breads are nut-free. I have to make such terrible sacrifices! Well, we're out for a meal, I always say "I'll have his nuts."
You just made our day! LOVE the Swedish Chef.....no matter what he does!!
ReplyDeleteHeard about that 'beast from the east' over here. I think it's winter taking its good ole time disappearing.....testing us. This too shall pass.
Jim:
DeleteI wonder if your storm has a nickname, too. I LOVE the Swedish chef!
Swedish Chef is my HERO!
ReplyDeleteNow I need bread, banana bread.
Winds are assaulting us now too, saw sand in the ocean just like yours.

DeleteThe mud is washing down from the mountains into the sea. That day, it had only just begun. Now the sea has lost its stripes!
How odd is that I made banana bread tonight
ReplyDeleteJohn:
DeleteI'm dying for some date-spice bread. Make it next!
We're due to emerge today from the weather horror story of recent days. May it go away for EVER! - though we know that it'll return sometime, and may now be becoming a permanent feature, Gawd help us! I'd rather have had to put up with your rain than the white stuff. But D & M couldn't care less - and btw: aren't they the mostest?
ReplyDeleteRay:
DeleteThe rain hasn't let up for long. No wind right now but it looks like it will all return any minute. Moose wasn't even out on his "tree" on the terrace while the wind rattled the windows.
Here comes the sun,
ReplyDeleteTravel:
DeleteAnd there it goes again!
Hope your sunshine is back by now. Love the Muppet songs. Have you seen their "lime in the coconut"? It is a good one to brighten a grey day too.
ReplyDeleteWilma:
DeleteRaining again. And more to come. I loved the Muppet Show and think I've seen them all. I think I even used "Lime in the Coconut" in a blog post a long time back! And now I'm signing it. So thanks for brighten up this gray day!
Cats are always preferable over bananas in my book
ReplyDeleteI was pleased to read your blog entry's title and 'get it right' although I startled 'oh dear does this really say cats and bananas?
Spo:
DeleteYou'll be speaking Spanish like me in no time! Poor boy.
