High And Low Of Shopping / Alta Y Baja De Las Compras

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

I LIKE TO shop. My favorite clothing store — lately— has been Desigual. I've picked up several shirts there in recent months; I'm wearing one in my profile picture. I regularly visit the Desigual store in the La Cañada shopping mall in Marbella and I usually leave with something. But when I was there last week, I found a T-shirt I could definitely live without. After not buying the T-shirt, I stopped by an upscale furniture store where I could easily live without everything I saw. But I still came home happy with a couple of little gifts for my 2-year-old pal Luke.

SAY WHAT?
¿¡¿QUE QUÉ?!? (¿LA ALTA BAJA EN LA VIDA SON INESPERADOS?)
A FOOTSTOOL ON SALE FOR ONLY 612 EUROS. IT DIDN'T COME IN MY COLOR.
UN ESCABEL POR SOLO 612 EUROS. NO VINO EN MI COLOR.
THE JUMBO LIGHTBULB IS HALF PRICE. ONLY 395 EUROS
LA BOMBILLA GIGANTE ES MITAD DE PRECIO. SOLO 395 EUROS.
A BEDSIDE LAMP AT 10 PERCENT OFF. ONLY 666 EUROS. (666? LIKE HELL!)
UNA LÁMPARA DE NOCHE CON UN DESCUENTO DE 10 POR CIENTO. SOLO 666 EUROS. (666? COMO EL INFIERNO!)

  1. And I thought things here in Santa Fe were expensive,,,which they can be...but at least we have back-up stores for common folk - KMart, BigLots and Target.

There are a couple of furniture stores in this shopping center that I find a bit absurd. But, don't worry, we've got plenty of rational, affordable shops here -- and many even have furniture I like! (No KMart, BigLots, or Target, though.)

Can you believe it? It's not like I even coveted that crap.

    1. A paintless painting book (water brush brings out the colors and then the colors disappear again when it dries), and a sticker book to make funny faces. Gave them both to him today and he had a ball.

  4. If you painted that jumbo light bulb green, it would look like a sculpture of an alien! I don't know the worth of euros, but I would guess that none of this stuff are worth the prices.

At 790 euros, that light bulb's full price, you'd be paying 973 American dollars or 705 British pounds. So, half price is a steal!

  5. That last thing looks like a lamp/cuisinart.

If it WERE a lamp/cuisinart, it might be worth the price.

  6. I expect more from a T-shirt. The word "and" for starters.

I'd be happy to pick one up for you (as long as you're willing to bail me out after; there's no way I'm PAYING for it).

  8. Way too much money for such trendy crap. I like for my trendy crap to at least be cheap!

And I didn't even find it trendy. I did think the footstool was cute -- when I thought it was under 50 euros.

  12. You like to shop, good for you! I don't know many men who do. I hope you get plenty of opportunity to do so.

I know plenty of men who like to shop and plenty of women who don't. I'm not much of a browser, though. If I'm looking for something (and especiallly if I find it), I enjoy myself. But there are some shops that have such interesting things that I just like to go in and have a look.
