Leaving San Diego / Saliendo De San Diego

AS I MENTIONED the other day (click here), we left our house in San Diego after only 2-1/2 years (5-1/2 years total in San Diego). The University of California, Berkeley, called out to Jerry. We considered. He said, "No, thanks." But then they called again. And again. And again. And we said, "Yes." I found a new job at Berkeley, too. Maybe I'll tell you about that some other time.
As the song in the musical Sunday In The Park With George says, "I chose and my world was shaken. So what. The choice may have been mistaken, the choosing was not. You have to move on."
As the song in the musical Into the Woods says, "Anyway. Never mind."
Here are some final photos of our last two San Diego years with photos of our kitchen and the updates we made. San Geraldo was very active in the UC San Diego GLBTQ group speaking out for domestic partner benefits among other things. That group hosted a going away party for us. That's the first photo. We both volunteered at the GLBTQ Center in San Diego and we were very involved in supporting all their efforts. The Center hosted a black-tie event (not in our honor) and we participated in the human rainbow flag photo used for the invitation. That's the last photo. See if you can find us.

Nosotros consideramos. Dijó: "No, gracias". Pero luego llamaron de nuevo. Y otra vez. Y otra vez.

BEFORE...
ANTES...
...AND AFTER. NOT THE 1924 STOVE. THIS ONE WAS PURCHASED IN 1949.
...Y DESPUÉS. NO LA ESTUFA DE 1924. ESTA FUE COMPRADA EN 1949.

WE ADDED THIS TILE COUNTERTOP TO MATCH THE ORIGINAL TILE IN THE REST OF THE KITCHEN.
AGREGAMOS ESTA ENCIMERA PARA QUE COINCIDA CON EL AZULEJO ORIGINAL EN RESTO DE  LA COCINA.
A CORNER OF THE KITCHEN BEFORE...
UNA ESQUINA DE LA COCINA ANTES...
... AND AFTER. WE LOVED THE ORIGINAL BUILT-IN CHINA CLOSET, BUT IT WASN'T VERY USEFUL.
... Y DESPUÉS. NOS ENCANTÓ EL VIEJO ARMARIO, PERO NO ERAM MUY ÚTIL.
WHERE'S WALDO — OR SAN GERALDO AND MITCHELL?
¿DÓNDE ESTÁ WALLY — O SAN GERALDO Y MITCHELL?

You have to move on.
Tienes que seguir adelante.

We loved that kitchen and didn't want to lose the feel and style that had survived all those years. So the corner with counters and cabinets was the only concession. THEN we moved!!!

The doors, windows, and woodwork were all gumwood and original from 1924. Incredible!

Purple. Fourth row from the bottom. On the right. Go straight up from the bottom row with the person in the dark gold shirt next tot he person in the black shirt. Jerry's wedding ring loosely fits my thumb.

We especially love white kitchens. For someone who doesn't cook, I have a thing for kitchens. Maybe it's all the opportunities to clean and organize.

We're fourth row from the bottom (about 5 people in from the right). I'm in a black T-shirt and a tan vest. Jerry is in a white T-shirt. I couldn't find Waldo either.
