Upstairs, Downstairs / Arriba Y Abajo

SAN GERALDO AND I were talking about the fact that we've lived in the same place for five years and aren't discussing moving. That's a very good thing, we think, but it's not easy for us to get used to the idea. Oddly, I feel more at home here in this most foreign (for me) of all the places we've lived than I have felt anywhere else. Also, I've gotten to know my way around locally. I can go anywhere in town and easily find my way back through the winding, confusing streets.

Moose, on the other hand... Well, he's very sweet.

I let Moose out in the hall the other night. He loves the adventure. This time, he ran down the stairs. I followed and found him in a panic because the door to our apartment was closed — except it was the apartment below ours. I had to carry him upstairs. When he saw our actual door, he nearly flew out of my arms and ran inside.

Of course, he immediately wanted out again. He's a cat.

Además, he llegado a conocer mi camino localmente.

UPSTAIRS, DOWNSTAIRS. I KNOW, I CAN'T TELL THEM APART EITHER.
ARRIBA Y ABAJO. YO SÉ, NO PUEDO DISTINGUIRLOS TAMPOCO.
MOOSE: "SWEET? WHO YA CALLING SWEET?!?"
MOOSE: "¿DULCE? ¿¡¿A QUIÉN LLAMAS DULCE?!?"

Moose is so sweet and he hates to be alone for a minute. He even wants company in the room when he uses the litter box!

  3. Sweet is not a word I'd apply to many cats. A dog would be thinking "I love you!" to even strangers. Cats be like "you can pet me...for now..."

You really should get to know some cats. Ours have always been really sweet, gentle, and affectionate. Moose and Dudo are our best friends. (And we don't have to take them for walks and pick up their poop in a plastic bag!)

That's something Dudo would do. Moose doesn't have the ... sense of humor?

Oh, he does. He views the world from the safety of his tower on the terrace.

  7. I had a friend who use to move every three or four years. A monad I tell ya. I don't think she ever called a place home or laid any roots. I have only moved three time in my whole life this far....16 years where I am now.

Both cats are now enamored with the stairs. Dudo manages to find his way home.
