Use Your Imagination / Usa Tu Imaginación

WE DROVE FRIDAY to our favorite garden center, Viveros Guzman, in the town of Alhaurín de la Torre. Amazingly, we didn't buy a thing. And just look at all the temptation! But we did have lunch at the excellent restaurant inside the garden center.

FUIMOS EL VIERNES a nuestro viveros favorito, Viveros Guzmán, en la ciudad de Alhaurín de la Torre. Sorprendentemente, no compramos nada. ¡Y mira toda la tentación! Pero almorzamos en el excelente restaurante dentro del centro de jardinería.

I WOULD HAVE PREFERRED "A HORSE OF A DIFFERENT COLOR."
YO PREFERÍA "UN CABALLO DE UN COLOR DIFERENTE" (SIGNIFICA "HARINA DE OTRO COSTAL").
IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE KANGAROOS, THERE ARE ALWAYS SHEEP AND COWS (AND THERE'S EVEN A RHINO).
SI NO TE GUSTAN LOS CANGUROS, SIEMPRE HAY OVEJAS Y VACAS (Y INCLUSO HAY UN RINOCERANTE).

ARE THESE FROM THE PAINTED DESERT IN ARIZONA?!?
¿¡¿SON ESTOS DEL DESIERTO PINTADO DE ARIZONA?!?
OK, NONE OF THE ABOVE, BUT THIS ONE PLANT... MAYBE NEXT TIME.
BUENO, NINGUNOS DE LOS ANTERIORES, PERO ESTA PLANTA... QUIZÁS LA PRÓXIMA VEZ.
POTATO STEW.
CAZUELA DE PATATAS.
HAKE.
MERLUZA.
MILHOJAS (LAYERS OF PUFF PASTRY AND CREAM). YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE. I SUPPOSE YOU'LL HAVE TO USE YOUR IMAGINATION.
MILHOJAS. DEBERÍAS HABER ESTADO ALLÍ. SUPONGO QUE TENDRAS QUE USAR TU IMAGINACIÓN.

  1. Those flowering cactus are stunning.

But is it me or does that other plant remind me of huge uncircumcised penises? I'm in New York currently...if I have the time I may check out that hipster store you mentioned.

Well, until you pointed it out, I hadn't noticed the resemblance. Now, however, I can't NOT see it. If you check out the hipster store on Smith Street, DEFINITELY go to Mia's Bakery a few doors down. Oh my god.

  3. I love garden shops but find them so expensive. Vegetable gardening, which used to be the poor man's domain, is now a major investment... The kangaroo looks like the jack rabbits here in New Mexico. And the cacti here are not yet in bloom, but won't be that colorful when they do..

We find the prices at these shops excellent. And the quality here is the best we've seen. But, even when we're not buying, it's like a day at the park. Glad to know no one is spray painting your cacti!

We had profiteroles at Meson Salvador last year that were so good I've been dreaming of them ever since. I keep begging the chef to make them again, but they require calmer times which the restaurant rarely has. I should just custom-order some. They were THAT good.

  6. That is a very interesting garden center. I don't care for the colorful cacti, but do like that curled leaf succulent. I think I would have liked the milhojas best of all, though.

Yep, between that curled cactus that I too loved and the milhojas... you can see which won out.

  8. @maddie - me too! did that plant remind you of anyone you know?

@mitchell - you DID NOT lick the dessert plate clean! WHAT is wrong with you? and you were not in oz, so that horse was NOT green!

I am plate-licking challenged. Jerry does not lick the plate and somehow manages to leave a lot less behind.

  9. I like the way that kangaroo is looking out of the corner of her eye. She suspicious.

  10. The cacti are gorgeous. I killed some just like those!
@maddie and Carebear: I've never seen an uncircumcised penis, now I have no desire to (like I have a choice).

  12. I am glad this garden centre is a very long way from me. Those cactus, stunning! And we seem to have the perfect environment for them in our delicate nirvana. We have a small container of them which is growing enormously at the moment.

But the cacti and most plants are so cheap here. It would be worth the flight.

  13. Such a nice selection of plants, I am afraid the horse is the only thing I could keep alive.

Jerry's mother always had a large, elegant plant in her living room. She killed one a year, and when Jerry would visit, he'd buy a new one.
