TRADER JOE'S IS an American specialty food market chain that we — and The Kid Brother — love. One of many things Trader Joe's is known for is Charles Shaw wine, a brand of bargain-priced wine that sells for $1.99 and is therefore known as Two-Buck Chuck.
The Kid Brother's real name is Charles and we usually call him Chuck,. I took him for our annual shopping trip to Trader Joe's in Brooklyn. He doesn't drink wine. He filled his cart with more expensive things. Eighty-Buck Chuck.

If he you got out of Trader Joes for less than $100, you got off easy. They have the best value on cheese- and a great selection. As I recall, Chuck offered to relieve you of some of those large bills. Looks like a great old building.

DeleteHe buys (I pay for) only what he can fit in his large backpack and one shopping bag. He takes the subway home and has to walk 10 minutes to subway and another 10 from. Otherwise I'd be broke!
we don't have a trader joe's in mah hood. I can spend $100 easy every week in my local grocery store.

DeleteTwo-Buck Chuck won awards a couple of years. I didn't have it often, but I when we lived in Santa Barbara I tried it a number of times. Once time it sucked. The rest of the time, it was surprisingly good. I'm impressed with my brother's shopping skills at TJ's. He goes right for a big salad for dinner. Then, protein bars, healthy cereal, nuts. He does a good job.
I only go to Trader Joe's for buffalo jerky. Love that stuff! Our Trader Joe's always smells like rotting produce. That one looks a lot cleaner. Balder Half can't be sent to any store. You send him in for coffee creamer and he comes out with five bags of groceries. We really don't need clearanced cat food. We have dogs!

I love Trader Joes. I wish we'd get one in the town where I live. Whenever I go to visit family in Raleigh NC I like to make a trip to TJs...and 2 Buck Chuck is always on the list!

We don't have Trader Joe's in Canada but I would love anywhere you could buy wine for $2 (something I love about Europe is how they price the wine, cheaper than a coffee out). Here it is at least $10 a bottle :( At least Chuck has great taste in treats!

I love Trader Joe's. It one of four grocery stores I shop. Their food is always fresh and tasty, friendly employees and great prices.

DeleteI agree. I have never had a bad experience with staff and I love their products. My mother always made a beeline to the free samples!
I like Trader Joe's because of how they treat their workers. Now if all companies did that from the start, Karl Marx would have never had to write a word.

We miss Trader Joe's, too. But like you, wouldn't move back for it. We pay $15-20 for crap wine here that is not nearly as good as 2 buck Chuck. Mostly the wine is crap because the stores keep it the windows and it gets too hot in the sun. Your Chuck looks pretty pleased.
