A Pause For Mr. Clause / Una Pausa Para Papá Noel

EARLY IN SAN Geraldo's professional library career, he began a tradition of dressing up as Santa Claus at the Libraries' holiday parties. Guests would pay $1 to sit on Santa's lap and have their photos taken. All the money raised would go to a pre-selected charity. These were the only times in my life that I got to sit on Santa Claus's lap. (San Geraldo's lap is another story.)

As you well know, the naughty list is sometimes the best place to be. Hope you're recovering well and happily from New Year's Eve.

Moose and Dudo both greeted me this morning with your good wishes. Moose then went back to bed and Dudo posted himself at the drain hole! Wishing you a happy, healthy 2018.

He required a lot of padding in those days, but he did a great job. Our friend's 4-year-old daughter arrived at the Yale party that was held in the Rare Books Library to see Santa. She saw him from across the room in that brilliant costume and said to her mother, "That's Jerry." Her mother explained that Jerry was helping Santa and asked how she knew it was him. She said, "His eyes."

What do you mean "look like"? It was the late '80s. I WAS 12 — more or less.
