Dudo Doesn't Want Pomegranate / Dudo No Quiere Granada

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

WE MAY HAVE only been in Granada for a day but, here on my blog, I'm still there. Before we came home, we had lunch at an excellent restaurant, Jardines Alberto, recommended by our guide Federico, across the street from the entrance to the Alhambra. I decided to try a couple of local specialties and I wasn't disappointed. First I had Nasrid Style Chicken, and then a traditional dessert called pionono, a recipe from the town of Santa Fe in the province of Granada. Pionono is a thin layer of pastry rolled into a cylinder, fermented with different kinds of syrup, and topped with toasted cream. When we got home Wednesday evening, Dudo was interested in a different dessert.

NASRID STYLE CHICKEN. STUFFED WITH VEGETABLES, DRY FRUITS, CASHEWS, AND HONEY.
POLLA AL ESTILO NAZARÍ. RELLENO DE VERDURAS Y FRUTOS SECOS, ANACARDOS Y MIEL.

CRAG MARTINS ROOSTING ON OUR AWNINGS WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
ROQUEROS DURMIENDO EN LOS TOLDOS EL MIÉRCOLES POR LA NOCHE.
DUDO: "OH, COME ON! CAN I JUST HAVE ONE?!? I DON'T EVEN NEED TOASTED CREAM!
DUDO: "¡OH, VAMOS! ¿¡¿PUEDO SOLO TENER UNO?!? ¡NI SIQUIERA NECESITO CREMA TOSTADA!

  1. I see some things haven't changed in the new year with the birds. Meanwhile that looks delicious! I love chicken. I wondered if I might not survive there. I have noticed a ton of fish in things there. I'd be screwed......i don't eat fish, except very few. I'm more shell fish myself. Like crustations

Oh, those birds. Morning, noon, and night... and sometimes in-between. Pork and chicken -- especially pork -- are even more prevalent than seafood. I just try to eat a lot of seafood, so you see that often here. Besides, we DO live on the sea. And we do have lots of shellfish so you'd do fine.

Speaking of cat porn. Moose is at my feet on his back right now waiting for some attention.

Moose was several feet away on the table. Poor boys. The chicken was absolutely delicious.

  7. I only wish Dudo and Moose would turn veggie. It pains me to see them ever pining for something they can't have.

I have to admit they don't prefer veggies. Our plants would never be the same. We had to be very careful what plants we chose when we had our California cats. They LOVED greens.

  8. Toasted cream? That's a new one to me; bears some investigation. Those birds sure do taunt the cats, even if they are completely unaware of the cats on on the terrace.

I don't remember so many rock martins in past years, nor did they ever roost on our awnings. Oh, spring cleaning of bird poop will be a joy. But they do seem oblivious to the cats. Thanks for not asking how to make toasted cream. (Maybe you slice up some cream and put it in the toaster.)
