WE HAVE A crystal bowl (bowl, not ball) in the living room that was given to San Geraldo when he left his position at the University of California, San Diego. I'm slowly filling it with colorful and delicate nacre (mother-of-pearl). I have another glass bowl overflowing with sea glass. In addition to my four new pieces of nacre, I found a golden yellow piece of sea glass on the beach Tuesday. A rare discovery. I've decided to call it "Precious."

I would love to go beach-combing with you, Mitchell! Beautiful photos of these gems.
ReplyDeleteJim,
DeleteName the day!
Lovely! They go well with the crystal bowl. Nothing quite so exotic here in New Mexico. I collect rocks and obsidian. P.S. you don't need a crystal ball, just a palm reader (photo 1).
ReplyDeleteFrank,
DeleteMy parents were rock hounds. My father would have loved New Mexico. Beachcombing was old hat.
Very neat. I don't find too much sea glass here but do save it when I do. I've never found mother of pearl without the shell though, very pretty!
ReplyDeleteCheapchick,
DeleteSome days the beach is covered in mother of pearl. Not recently though. There’s always some sea glass but lots of clear, green, and brown.
I have never seen this before....it reminds me of amber. When that's filled it will look beautiful. Imagine if you under light it!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMistress maddie,
DeleteI haven’t been able to find small display light boxes here. It’s a great idea.
Crystal is perfect for displaying such treasures!
ReplyDeleteDebra,
DeleteIt is. And it’s better than leaving the bowl in the cabinet.
Very, very pretty! My crystal bowl (if I owned one) would be filled with Skittles and M&Ms.
ReplyDeleteDeedles,
DeleteThat would be a masterpiece.
The only sea glass I find is still sharp and hardly precious! Not enough wave action here to smooth it down. That nacre is luminous.
ReplyDeleteWilma,
DeleteI thought of buying a rock tumbler so I could choose my colors. But that would be cheating.
Gorgeous finds. The colors are amazing!
ReplyDeleteBob,
DeleteThe variety of colors is surprising. My new hobby.
Pretty, everyone needs to collect something.
ReplyDeleteTravel,
DeleteI love collections. Got rid of most when we moved to Spain. Now I collect things like these that don’t take up much space... and don’t cost any money.
Oh, my. Those are beautiful! And, I much enjoyed seeing your living room :)
