The Way I See It / El Modo En Lo Que Veo

LAST WEEK, AS my vision in my left eye began to return, what I first saw was a view through a glass of burgundy. (That's the gas that was injected into my eye.) The glass became less and less full. Above was more clear. It looked like I was half submerged in a gelatinous-liquid pool — sometimes bluish, sometimes purplish, sometimes reddish-bluish-purplish. The surface waved with each move I made. Finally, I'm able to show you my own re-creation of how I see things today. It's like there's a vivid small contact lens floating in the lower part of my eye. The doctor told me Thursday that everything is perfect... so far. She said my "husband needs to continue to do all the work for another 15 days (at least)".

WHAT'S THERE.
LO QUE ESTÁ ALLI.
WHAT I SEE (MORE OR LESS).
LO QUE VEO (MÁS O MENOS).
I FEEL SO SORRY FOR SAN GERALDO. REALLY.
ME SIENTO TAN IMPRESIONANTE PARA SAN GERALDO. DE VERDAD.

  1. Yeah, your face looks soooo heartbroken! How much did you pay the doctor for another fifteen days? I do believe your condition is worse than mine. Eye get injections every four to six weeks now, but the amoeba comes only right after the needle shoots the medicine in. Once the numbing wears off, it feels like there are shards of acid soaked glass in there for about two to three days. After that, nada until the next shot. This ball thing would drive me nuts! I am glad you are progressing well.

The truth is this is making me crazy. I DO feel really sorry for Jerry. I'd rather have my "follow the bouncing ball" than your injections and acid-soaked glass. Wow!

  2. I hope you told San Geraldo he needs to continue doing everything for another month at least. What? He'll never know!

Oh, the novelty has worn off for him. I really can't wait until I can do things again. And payback is going to be a bitch... or maybe that's Jerry.

  3. You do look saddened that SG is playing wet nurse and cook and maid and laundress, but, yeah, I'd be taking all kinds of advantage of that myself.
Carlos is still taking out all the trash because of the Hangnail of 2006 Incident.

Jerry had to be put under for a hangnail! Heaven forbid the tables are ever turned!

I'm honestly NOT enjoying it. Jerry is great at pampering but this is too much... and I'm so bored!

  5. Well if hubby still has to do everything.....let the cats entertain you.

    1. Mistress maddie,
Dont you think Jerry should be responsible for the entertainment, too? Besides, these cats don’t “work” for anyone!

  6. Only 2 more weeks. Who will be more relieved - you or SG? I'm guessing you. It was really hard for me to abstain from running for 2 months and swimming for 4 months after lens replacement surgery, but at least I could walk all I wanted to. No bending over for 10 days was hard to remember and made putting shoes on a bit of a challenge! In 2 weeks you will feel like you have been released from prison.

    1. Wilma,
That’s a toss up. We’re both pretty tired of it. But if this is the worst I have to deal with... I need to be very grateful!

  8. You'll probably be happy to do work when you are able lol. That really sucks and shows how valuable sight is. Any idea why you've had this happen to you twice?

    1. Cheapchick,
First time was just torn. This time detached. Turns out the edges of my retina were fragile. I don’t know why. I can’t wait to be allowed to be active again!

  9. It's incredible how much a problem with eyes can really affect you. I haven't had anything remotely what you're going through, but I remember a case of conjunctivitis that I had that really knocked me off my feet!

Wishing you (and SG) all the best.

  10. I never knew what the effects of retinal detachment were.
It must be a relief to actually 'watch' your progress on a daily basis.
Poor SG! He will deserve mega attention/presents/adoration when you are able to do anything again.
Now.....wipe that smile off your face!! lol
