Who's Pulling The Strings? / ¿Quién Está Tirando De Las Cuerdas?

La versión español está después de la versión inglés.

THE DRAWSTRING ON a pair of my gym shorts was stuck and I was unable to fix it, so I removed it. When Dudo and Moose first moved in with us six years ago, I tried playing with them with a drawstring and they both ran under the bed. They didn't come out for hours and the next time I tried, they disappeared again. So I gave up.

Times have changed. When Dudo saw me pull out the drawstring he came running. He hasn't stopped dragging it around the house with him and expects us both to play with him constantly. Even Moose, who tends to be more calm in his play has been having a ball.  First you'll see Moose. Then Dudo. They're so cute I could just shit (which is what I was trying to do the last time Dudo brought me the drawstring).

P.S.: We were back at the ophthalmologist today. All is well and I can do everything "within reason." Now I have to figure out what "reason" is. I don't think washing last night's dishes should count.

Primero verás a Moose. Entonces Dudo.

I have never seen him THIS happy. That string is his new best friend.

So fun to catch Moose in action. He usually only plays in very brief bursts. I need to go buy some drawstrings.

  3. I never met a cat who didn't like a good string...perhaps they just got it wrong the first time. Glad you are almost back to normal (??) as you can be

Interestingly, of our three cats in the States only one liked to play with string (and he REALLY liked it). These guys took 6 years but they both are hooked.

  4. Great news from the opthalmologist! And two sweet, string-loving, furry sweeties to help you figure out what "within reason" is.

Well, sleeping on my left side once again clearly was not "within reason." My eye looked ugly and ached all day yesterday! Uf! Or maybe I just played too much with the boys.

    2. Mitchell I've heard that playing too much with the boys can cause blindness. Be careful!

  5. They see it as their duty to keep the world safe for you - and a drawstring is a dire threat!

Then why did Dudo drag the string onto the bed this morning and wake me up? (Oh, maybe to show me he had vanquished it and I could go back to sleep.)

  6. Dancing Moose and Demonic Dudo! I love how the wall sculpture is looking on as Dudo reaches over the edge of the cat tree to grab the string. Your eye for cat antics is spot on. Let us know when you figure out how to be reasonable . . . .

Haven't figured out how to be reasonable yet! But I think all I did was sleep the wrong way! I'm trying for reasonable today.

  7. Oooh, pussycat porn! I love these two but that last shot of Dudo is the best! Just look at that expression. I'm glad that your appointment went well. Don't you just hate it when no one explains what within reason means? Personally, I think that dishes should always be done by somebody else. Doesn't happen in my house though *sigh*.

I'm actually enjoying dishes, laundry, and trash duty (because I stay one step ahead). But I'm not having the best of the days with the eye. Reason?!?

The fun with the cats doesn't stop. I've got another couple dozen photos! My eye is sore. I'm learning there are still serious limits to what I can do, which I really didn't appreciate it. At least the gas is all gone and I can travel and fly again.

Many more photos. They're so happy -- although I think I've created a string monster in Dudo.

  10. When I was a little kid my grandpa would attach a feather to the end of a wooden fishing pole....I could then make the cats that lived in their yard do crazy acrobatics! I haven't thought of that in years.

Dudo flies through the air and I've seen him do flips. Moose is a bit more grounded, so it's fun to see how active he gets with this string.

It hasn't stopped. Dudo drags it around with him. Bathrooms, beds, kitchen. Sometimes Moose follows behind and attacks the string as it goes along.

  14. You'll never know how much it cheered me to see your darling Moose and Dudo playing with your string!
Our very elderly cat, Shadow, is on his very last legs at the moment, having frightened us silly by being unconscious for about 6 hours on Monday, but is gradually picking up. It's as though he is saying to us "Hey, I'm only 20 y'know, and I've got a few of those 9 lives left!"
    Lord I hope so.

But, as I said, it makes me so happy to see younger pussies at play, and remember when our Shad was that sprightly.
Thank you for all of your pictures of those beautiful boys.

I am so sorry for what you're going through with Shadow. Twenty years is such a long time to be in each other's lives. Sending you and Shadow hugs. Come back here any time you need a smile.
