IT STORMED THIS morning. The two weather forecasts we read didn't forecast rain... until it was here. Thunder and lightning. Very, very frightening for Moose and Dudo. We went out for coffee and didn't get very wet. The sun eventually came out and I went for a walk in the afternoon under dramatic skies. I wore waterproof shoes made of Kevlar and a rain jacket with a hood. I also wore my Nike moisture-wicking running pants. I figured even if they weren't waterproof, they'd be better than denim.
I walked on the beach for a mile or so, heard a very loud clap of thunder and headed home.
No surprise, moisture-wicking Nike running pants can only wick so much water. And waterproof shoes made of Kevlar are great as long as the rain doesn't soak your moisture-wicking Nike pants and run down your ankles into your cotton socks.

MOOSE THIS MORNING, DEBATING A DASH INDOORS. MOOSE ESTA MAÑANA, PENSANDO EN CORRER DENTRO. |

LOVE THAT MUDDY WATER... ME ENCANTA ESA AGUA FANGOSA. |
DUDO AFTER A PARTICULARLY LOUD THUNDER CLAP. DUDO DESPUÉS DE UN TRUENO PARTICULARMENTE FUERTE. |
THERE'S SAFETY IN NUMBERS. HAY SEGURIDAD EN LA CANTIDAD. |
BUT, SAN GERALDO, THE FERRY BETWEEN MÁLAGA AND TANGIER WOULD BE SO RELAXING! PERO, SAN GERALDO, EL FERRY ENTRE MÁLAGA Y TÁNGIER SERÍA MUY RELAJANTE. |
do you and SG ever curl up in bed like that? I don't like loud thunderstorms either.
ReplyDeleteAnne Marie,
DeleteYeah right. After 37 years?!? Although that wouldn’t be a very safe position!
Thunder wouldn't scare my dog, but fireworks would. She'd always try to hide near my mom's bed.
ReplyDeleteAdam,
DeletePoor dogs with fireworks. The cats don’t like them but they’re not terrified. Sometimes they’ll even watch for a bit.
Dramatic skies is an understatement, drama queen kitties however..... I love thunderstorms as long as my loved ones are inside the house.
ReplyDeleteDeedles,
DeleteThat walk on the beach was amazing. And yes drama queens! Jerry is better than he used to be but his great grandmother was killed by lightning!
Moose looks pissed! Dad, make it stop!
ReplyDeleteCheapchick,
DeleteExactly.
Max hides under abed during thunderstorms but Tuxedo, Consuelo and Ozzo are like, "Meh."
ReplyDeleteBob,
DeleteThese guys love watching the rain. The thunder though...
I wear "fast-dry" clothes and flip-flops when rain is in store. No hope of staying dry when on an open boat during a downpour. It would be cool to try the ferry ONCE in a rainstorm - no wind please. The cats look quite apprehensive in the first shots. But the trauma didn't seem to last long.
ReplyDeleteWilma,
DeleteMoose has a short memory. With storms Dudu recovers quickly.
HRH was never very perturbed by thunder or lightning. But once when a couple of military jets unexpectedly screamed past right over my apartment block (heading for a Canada Day celebration), she jumped about six feet in the air, LOL! To be fair, so did I.
ReplyDeleteDebra,
DeleteThese boys, especially Dudo, get perturbed by every little thing. Dudo even stalks Jerry’s clothes on the floor... as if that’s something new and different.
Moose defiantly does not look happy. Reminds me of when someone takes Sarah Huckabee Saunders's large order of fried chicken...with all the sides.
ReplyDeleteMaddie,
DeleteHe held out as long as he could... unlike Sarah Huckleberry Hound.
D & M had better get used to these weather pyrotechnics. It's very likely to be our future now, getting ever more scary. And now, on a more cheerful side.......
ReplyDeleteRay,
DeleteOh, don’t get me started. But the good news is, with these guys in charge there may not be a future to worry about b
Galileo Figaro.
ReplyDeleteWalt the Fourth,
DeleteBeelzebub has a devil put aside for me... for me ... for me!
Looks pretty, a good day for a warm shower and cuddle with the cats
ReplyDeleteTravel,
DeleteIt was beautiful.
When thunder and lightning are about, morph ball is the safest cat position to assume. :) Unless of course you just don't care, which explains waving the legs in the air.
ReplyDeleteSnoskred,
DeleteI love the term morph ball! Moose’s legs are often in the air.
We had quite the slow, foggy, wet ride down the mountain on Thursday morning!
ReplyDeleteAnd Dudo and Moose, I love you, even if only from afar...
Knatolee,
DeleteThat was probably some of the worst weather we had. Just for your travel day!
