Rockstar Roqueros

La versión español está después de la primera foto de un gato.

SUNDAY MORNING, I noticed Dudo sitting and staring at the drain hole on the terrace and I knew the crag martins were back (click here). A moment later, I saw them flit in front of the glass curtain on the terrace. Dudo hunched a bit lower and his tail slapped the floor. Later in the day, Moose was at it. First after our siesta together when he jumped onto the dresser and began to make those cute little gurgling noises that say, "Come here little birdie and I'll eat you." When that wasn't close enough, he headed outside.

DUDO, SUNDAY MORNING.

One of these days they will get lucky......for them not the birds!
I love it when cats do their 'chattering' sound.

    2. Well, no kitty is perfect, Mitchell! My late cat, Barnaby, once caught a hummingbird in midflight. Shocked the hell out of him, then he proceeded to mangle it. Cats, such beautiful and evil critters :)

Dudo keeps selecting spots he thinks hide him from the birds.

  6. They're on duty; such good little bird dogs,er, cats.

Around here Consuelo is our birder and she is quite good at spotting them.Tuxedo and MaxGoldberg really cannot be bothered.

  7. When we brought our 13-yr old cat down here, she loved to sit on the screened in veranda that was at tree height and watch all the birds. She would chatter at them and would get so excited if they ever landed on the other side of the screen. I don't think she had quite the focus (obsession?) that Dudo and Moose have, though. They are INTENT. Your photos capture the tension so well.

    1. Wilma,
They really are obsessed. Our California cats were different. One showed no interest and the other ran and hid from humming birds.

  10. The one cat's looking at the drain hole, whereas the other one's more focused on the plant. Cats may be curious, but not always about the same thing.

But not for long and only because he saw a shadow on the walll of the birds flying by.

  11. My sweet temperament cats would turn into fiends at the sight of a bird; they would bare fangs and gag with hatred. It was quick a sight.

    1. Spo,
No hatred here. They want to be friends with every little bird... and lick them and give love bites. Trust me.

    1. Knatolee,
Moose was sitting in the dark this morning staring up at the awning when I went out to photograph a spectacular sunrise. I looked up and saw a crag Martin roosting in the awning. OUTSIDE the glass curtain, thank the goddess!
